Oozing Goo - The Lava Lamp Syndicate

Does anyone possibly know of a place in Winnipeg that would do lava lamp repair? When mine heats up all the bubbles seem to conglomerate together to just form one big bubble at the top and just sit there. This lamp was a gift from my daughter when she was just 6 years old so I would prefer not to mess with it on my own and wind up screwing it up altogether.

Hi Dave,
To answer your question, it's probably a no. Id like to open my own lava repair shop someday, though I doubt it would do well.
When wax likes to hang around at the top like you mentioned, I call it fried. One thing you might want to try is a lamp dimmer switch from a hardware store like Home Depot. They're $10-15. The extra cord is a little annoying, but easier and safer than modifying the existing cord.
If the wax likes to flow for a bit and then chill at the top once it gets too hot, a dimmer would help it flow longer.
The only other option would be to change out the lamps contents. There's guides on here to do that. They're called gookits. They're not hard to do, just tedious.
Hope this helps!
