Oozing Goo - The Lava Lamp Syndicate

I finally broke down, instead of worrying myself to death about finding a new ceramic peace lamp cheap (apparently I'd have to be extremely fortunate to get it for less than $100 or even less than $45), and got myself a new lava lamp.

It's one of the plain Lava Lite brand ones from KMart because I was short on cash. I purchased one with colors that would match my old ceramic peace base (blue liquid with green/yellow wax) but my being a moron I didn't check the sizes correctly.

So now I have my ceramic peace base which was apparently designed for a 32oz globe and I purchased a set with a 20oz globe instead.I also found out to my dismay that the new-er style of Lava Lite bases come with a 25 watt bulb which my ceramic peace base (according to the sticker on the inside of it) takes a 40 watt bulb.

Not to mention that I spent a few hours in panic mode because they shipped my lava lamp to arrive during the hottest part of the day (we're already hitting heat indexes of 100 in Georgia and it's a muggy/humid heat which would be like..60 for people in dry heat regions) and it apparently got shaken/shifted wrong and when I pulled it out of all the packaging the wax was floating sideways. Thankfully I gently tilted it back and forth until it settled back down and after a good 6 hours (first time being run) it worked fine. So that was solved.

So I'll stop rambling I'll get to my question which is semi-two parts.
First I did set my new globe in my ceramic peace pace and it fits fine and doesn't shift or anything if the base is slightly jarred. This makes me think the 20oz globe would work fine in my ceramic peace base originally designed for a 32oz globe. Am I correct?

And if so will it do damage to the globe to go from a 25 watt bulb to a 40 watt bulb since my ceramic peace base can't secure a 25 watt bulb? I just don't want it overheating and exploding or messing up since I spent a little under twenty dollars of my high school graduation money to buy a new lamp and I'm very picky about how my money is spent.

Short answer, 40 watts will overheat the 20oz globe.

Longer answer, you should be able to find a 25 watt bulb to fit the peace base. Look for ceiling fan bulbs or appliance (refrigerator or oven) bulbs.
