So, looking at the website for Mathmos it indicates that the chrome Astro replacement globes are not cross-compatible with the Heritage Mathmos replacement globes. I saw on here that some folks said that the Heritage globes are a different formula and the Heritage bases are cooler running. It is weird, though... it seems like the bulbs are the same, no? I was thinking of getting an Astro and some globes to my hotel when in London. I thought about getting a chrome Astro and a Heritage spare globe, but now seems incompatible? Just seems odd... has anyone tried to interchange the globes?
Also, are there design differences between the Chrome and Heritage? I am so confused... which to get????!!!!
They look very nice... it does seem that the lava in the black globe rests on the bottom more. I suppose that the opposite would be true, then... Mathmos Heritage globes would overheat on the chrome base? I suppose a dimmer would help in that case. Does the quality otherwise seem equal? The inner build identical? I thought I read about a stabilizer ring on the inside of the Heritage?
I wish I had room to buy everything... clearly that would be nuts, but I would like to get at least an Astro... an extra globe, and probably an astrobaby globe for my telstar.
