The total cost was £101.96 for the Fluidium (though it would be £99.96 the next time around). The cost in USD will depend on exchange rates and and any fees charged by your credit card. (Google will do currency conversion, if you want to see current exchange rates. Just use this search: 101.96 GBP in USD.)
Bad news on UKAddress.com. They won't ship liquids.
I've setup an address with Forward2me.com per Alfred's success story. I'm in the process now of finding out if UKAddress will ship it to my Forward2me address.
Live and learn.
This sounds awesome !
I'll wait and see how others use forward2me. Mathmos he I come.
Just got a confirmation from Forward2me that they DO ship lava lamps.
Not that I didn't trust you Alfred, but I thought I'd better be absolutely sure this time.
UKAddress isn't any help in getting the lamp shipped anywhere - even in the UK. So, I'm going to have it picked up by Parcelforce at my UKAddress and have it shipped to my Forward2me address. Of course, there are additional handling and releasing charges (10£), and then there's the additional Parcelforce shipping charges - another 10£.
I so hope this works out for you guys across the great big pond.
My update is less than stellar. From the tracking info, I can see that Parcelforce delivered my lamp to UKAddress at 9:05am local time. (they even have the signature on file that I can see in the tracking info) UKAddress still does not have it listed as received. I sent them a mail at 3:00pm local time, asking what the status of the package was, and have not gotten a reply. (and won't for a while, as it's 6:20pm local time now) :(
So, before I can ship mine from UKAddress to Forward2me via Parcelforce, I need the weight and dimensions.
I asked UKAddress for this info last night. No reply yet. I'm a bit underwhelmed with UKAddress.
Forward2me on the other hand sent me this:
Hi Kirk,
Many thanks for your mail.
We're sorry to hear that you have experienced problems shipping with the other company however good news for us that we have a new customer.
We've checked with our couriers and should have no problems at all shipping the lava lamp as they are not classed as dangerous goods for shipping purposes and the liquid is sealed within the lamp.
We look forward to receiving your parcel and if we can assist you with anything further please don't hesitate to get in touch.
Kind Regards,
Tracy.
Brian, here's the email I received from UKAddress:
Dear Kirk,
At this time we have received a parcel for you including a lava lamp that has liquid in it. Please be advised we will be unable to ship this item through our system as the couriers we use decline shipping any liquids. If you would like we can set the order as a "will call" order in your account. When using this option you would arrange for a courier of your choice to collect the parcel from our warehouse. When using this shipping method you would pay the £5.00 handling on each package as well as a £5.00 release fee. You would then contact a carrier of your choice to collect the order from our warehouse. All shipping arrangements would be made through you and your chosen courier directly therefore we would need to be provided with the shipping label and commercial invoice for the collection. After the will call payment is made in your account we would need to be notified of when the courier will come for collection. Alternatively if you would like to return the order to the vendor we will require the pre-paid return label to do so. Please provide this document via email and we will set the order as a return order in your account. Please be advised the £5.00 handling fee as well as a £5.00 return fee is charged for returns. If you are unable to provide a prepaid return label you may give us the vendors address and we will update the shipping options to pay to ship the order back to the vendor. We hope this information can help. Please respond back, thank you.
Sincerely,
Your UK Address Team

Thanks for sharing Kirk. I'll keep this thread posted as I go through mine as well.
Question about the voltage conversion. What is needed for this? Do all I need is a plug adaptor that I can attach to fit in a regular usa socket?
