Oozing Goo - The Lava Lamp Syndicate

Please let us know about some of those close calls where you just missed out on a serious ebay/other internet auction house, bargain.

I myself recently missed out on a £10 buy it now, boxed Crestworth Comet! as we say here in the UK - Gutted!

I nearly lost a Meliumin Telstar for about 20 odd quid (it was the one Chis Lee was selling) - I deciced to bid right at the end but unforanlty i bidded just too late and the auction ended.

However all was not lost - I contacted Chris and we sorted out a deal so in the end I managed to get it.

Overall - thanks Chris for letting me have the telstar, your a grate guy

Wow, a great guy indeed!

I have a history with one Mr. Chow from this site.  He and I follow the same "bid in the last 5 seconds" approach and he regularly spanks me at the game.  Two significant losses to chow were a Gem Lite glitter oval executive and the other was Spooktacular.  Two auctions that sit at ~$75 in the waning moments, I think I come in large at $200+ and whamo!, I finish 2nd to one O***l.  I know who you are pal.  I think some of his elek-tricks (the yellow one for sure) came at my expense.

The good news - I ended up getting both the glitter oval executive and Spooktacular in the end.  Never, ever sweat losing an auction.  You will most likely see the goodie again some day, and quite possibly at a better price.

True Jim, patience is a virtue!

I was looking around in a second-hand store Saturday and asked the owner if they had any lava lamps.  Of course I hear what I usually hear, "no but I just sold a couple this week".  That always brings on the "awe just missed it" feeling.  But here's the kicker, another patron spoke up and said he had sold 2 or 3 at his yard sale last month,  one of those was a "green alien".  And the best part?  He sold it for $1.   oh well ;)
I think we all missed that one (apart from the lucky so and so who nabbed it).
