Oozing Goo - The Lava Lamp Syndicate

I just got a new 14 inch lava lamp from Walmart and it works great till it heats up all the way. At this point the lava stays like one blob towards the bottom of the lamp and never moves. I'm assuming this may happen because the lamp gets too hot. My question is if I put a dimmer switch on this will it usually help.

Thank you very much Roger

That looks familiar. Yes I would say it should help with a dimmer.

Roger, I bought a new 14" model from walmart a few weeks ago and posted about it. After a few days of breaking in the bubbles went away in the wax and it worked pretty good for $14. I only returned it as I got a 16.3" model from spencers which has a much bigger bottle.

I only burned it for about 7 to 8 hours at a time and never had the issue you report.

Why put a dimmer on a new item that you can return and get another if in fact there is something wrong with it. Did you try spencers as they have a great selection in most stores, in different sizes as well.
