Oozing Goo - The Lava Lamp Syndicate

hiya guys, just thought i would share my expierence with you all, a member of our comunity arne in germany purchased from me a glitterama bottle for a lunar, a quite rare bottle, parcel force charged me near £60 with £100 isurance , it isspposed to take mximm5 days, it took well over a month to get to germany from here in the uk, and when it got there it was all smashed, i contacted parcel force who quoted there terms and conditions that anything made of glass is not covered by the insurance, they are even trying to get out of refunding my postage payment, they are nothing more than crooks, so just beware that if you post a lamp its not covered by postal insurance

Sounds to me like the package was lost for awhile, found then delivered. I had at least 15 packages delivered from the UK to the US and never had a problem with ParcelForce, sorry to hear of your bad luck. Im not surprised that they wont cover glass, the USPS does not cover it either here. If you tell them (USPS) that you are shipping a glass lamp with liquid they refuse it and tell you to go to UPS, when I asked why in the past they had shipped them their response was someone lied about the contents.
Filing claims against them is insane....my wifes Aunt sent her a glass picture frame that arrived broken, it was insured....when we went to the post office the lady said "yes its broken and yes its insured.....by the person who shipped it, not us". We were told to ship the broken frame back to the sender who then has to take it to the post office from where they sent it, show the reciept and then file a claim. They are basically telling you to blow off..... Its a lose lose situation.

Hate to contradict you here on the USPS, but I recently bought a lamp from someone here on the forum and they broke one of the 2 that were in the box. They actually delivered the box in a plastic bag and tray because the box was soaked. Retards. Anyway, I took it to the post office, and like you said, I needed to either send it back to the Seller OR have the Seller mail me the proof of insurance (receipt). The guy at the post office felt that the item was not packed well enough, but told me it is much better to file the claim online. So when I received the proof of insurance from the seller in the mail, I filed the whole claim online, including uploading of photos of the damaged item in the shipped packaging along with a paypal invoice and an original price list I got from a posting Bohdan made on a discussion. 3 days later, I received a check in the mail for the full value I requested. The process was flawless actually. Frankly, I was shocked because I thought they were going to pull the "Glass and Liquid " card and deny my claim, but low and behold they did right. I was very impressed actually.

In your Aunt's case I think she just got told bad information from one of the many loser-ass postal workers. That postal worker should be slapped across the face with a rusty steel wool pad!! If you hate your job, QUIT!
