I've been wanting to expand my plasma collection and a few choice items came up recently. I was able to score 3 out of 4 of the ones I wanted, this is the first to arrive. This is the original plasma dome reportedly designed by Larry Albright and made and sold by Rabbit Systems. Radio Shack/Realistic has a version very much like it that came out later.
The most recent plasmapalooza consists of this plasma dome a White Lightning (which came in it's original box), an actual Larry Albright plasma globe (one his few named, numbered retail versions) and a new in the box blue Lava Lightning 2 (just the red one to go to finish out the set!).
I can't wait until the others arrive to join my growing plasma collection.

I'm uploading a video of this dome in action. It will take a while with my internet connection, I'll post a link here tomorrow.
Here is a video of the plasma dome in action.

Oh wow, I saw that video before I just didn't realize they were yours!!! I even showed them to my 15 year old son. He thinks they're cool as well. At least you don't have to worry about things like cloudy, hazy liquid in your plasmas!!!
I also now have a better camera for video and it is better at shooting in low light situations so I hope future videos will be even better.
That's my problem with taking vids and still's. I have to rely on my iphone 5s camera. Although not bad for a phone camera, still not the best for taking lamp shots. My daughter has a nice cannon. I may ask her to do some stills and things for me with hers.
Brand new in the box, it was still sealed.
New or not, it did have a few issues. It had been jostled around all these years and a few of the solder joints on the electronics inside had cracked. At first it didn't work, then as I poked around it worked intermittantly, then I found the cracked joints. A quick touch up with a soldering iron and good as new. ;)
My goal is to obtain all three Lightning 2 lamps. I have green and now blue, only red to go!
That's great Rich!!! It's a good thing you were able to fix that. Most people like myself would not have that type of knowledge and would have to either return it, or go through paypal's insurance. That's what gets me mad with the China lava's. Most of the general public that have no knowledge of these things and just purchase them for pleasure would not know how to do a regoo or a fluid change and get stuck with a hazy, poor flow lamp. My daughter wants a lava lamp now. She's turning 21 and was ready to throw out her old Wizard lamp. I grabbed that up quick!! I told her if she wants a China Spencer's lamp we will probably end up doing at least a fluid change or a regoo on it somewhere down the line.......
I read in someone's post on here that the "new in box" thing worried them!!! Like if it's a great working lamp, why is it "new in box"........things that make ya go hum!!!
