Oozing Goo - The Lava Lamp Syndicate

Hi everyone, can anybody tell me what happens if you've purchased something from ebay and paid by paypal and it doesn't turn up.

My Hubby has bought me a present through ebay and it is worth £200. It was posted out on Friday via Royal Mails 1st class recorded delivery service. As yet the item hasn't arrived and I'm getting worried now.

Will paypal refund a payment that has been made for such an expensive item if it doesn't turn up? Or, is it a case that we didn't buy the correct postage option. I wanted to have the item delivered via special delivery but my Husband said that 1st class recorded was OK as it still needed a signature and it would be safe and the parcel only had to travel around 150 miles. I'm really not that sure now and I'm getting worried that we may loose our money.Or am I in a panic for no reason?

Thanks for your help.

Thanks for your reply Crestworth Limited, you've made me feel better. I know it could still turn up tomorrow I'm just so worried it won't turn up lol. Usually when I buy things via 1st class recorded they arrive the next day, sounds like I've been lucky for such quick service. The seller is a really nice person, I've contacted them and told them that it hasn't turned up as yet (they asked me to let them know when I received it) I've had it sent to my Husbands work address as there is always someone there to sign for it. Paypal recognises that address and on the correspondence receipt paypal send me it says that, that address is varified.

Fingers crossed it turns up tomorrow, I will contact the seller tomorrow night if it doesn't turn up tomorrow. Thanks for your help.

It has to say delivered before it becomes your responsibility/liability. (Insurance or not).

I.E. Until it says delivered, it is actually the seller's issue.

What I've learned is that insurance is the seller's protection against loss in transit and the buyer's protection against damage.

If it is lost or stolen during transit, paypal will refund the buyer unless it says delivered. The seller has to put in the claim to loss.

Once it says delivered, to confirmed/verified address, it is the buyer's responsibility/liability for claims such as non delivery or damage in transit.

I.E. If it is reported as delivered to a location where someone signed for it and it does not make it to where it should be, it's the buyer's liability. If the item is damaged, The buyer (along with the seller's assistance) has to put in the insurance claim against damage.

If it's a recorded delivery then chances are you are ok.

Thanks for your help everyone :) Fingers crossed it will turn up tomorrow. Usually I receive things quickly that are sent 1st class. Don't usually spend large amounts on ebay, I've been scammed in the past so I'm tend to not sleep well after spending large amounts of money...........
Thanks, no not a Lunar LOL, it would take much more money than that to buy one of those lol. It's an item of jewellery :)

It has arrived, thank goodness for that! It was a signed for next day service and it was posted on the 28th as stated. Must have been in the system somewhere, I can stop worrying now lol.

If I could have found a lunar for £200 I would have been happy lol, although I prefer the present my hubby has just bought me.

I've been buying things online for nearly ten years and I've had under 10 things go missing and never turn up, they've all been cheap things though. I've purchased hundreds and hundreds of things too, so not bad all in all. The missing items might never have been sent in the first place for all I know.
