Hello everyone, I know many of you are on the hunt or know of someone on the hunt for replacement fiber optics for their Fantasia lamp. Look no further!! As you all may or may not know already. I am currently in the process of making replacement glass fiber optic sprays. These will be identical to the original Fantasia sprays. I am overwhelmed with pre-orders and will most likely have a supply and demand issue on my hands at first, so I will do my best to have enough on hand when I begin selling them to go around. The first sprays that will be rolling out will be for the Sunburst 4000 model, Cosmos 5000 model, Regency 4001 model. All previous model Fantasia lamps, Cuda etc will have replacements as I make them available. These I hope to have ready by early to mid summer.

The large fiber optic sprays that will first be available, will be available in two lengths. The first one being a 14" spray that when inserted will hang and display its ends about mid globe on a Sunburst 4000.
The second length spray will be 18" long and is generally seen on the Black Sunburst 4000 model "Egg Shape" But will fit the Chrome and gold model Sunburst 4000 model lamps also.

The Cosmos lamp will need a measurement specific spray tailored for a exact fit within the lamp, essentialy the 14" spray should fit with no problems however I would not mind some feedback on the length of the fiber optic spray from a Cosmos 5000 model. "Measure from the ferrule to the end tips of the fibers, I know multiple sprays were used on the Cosmos, some shorter than others, just reply to this discussion with the measurements, please and thank you! :-)

These fiber optic sprays are in no way easy to make and will be made by hand and not in a factory, the cost of materials, especially the glass fiber optics is a bit pricy, the work and the process that goes into getting a spray fully assembled from start to finish with a haircut takes a bit of time. The price tag on these sprays will be most likely in the neighborhood of $100-125 each, that will be determined when they are made available for sale. I am a quality person and will make the price tag worth it's cost. I know you all know these sprays are not available anywhere unless you purchase another lamp somewhere and snag it's spray for a replacement.

keep your eyes peeled on ebay for these sprays as this will be where I will be hosting them for sale first as where I also have many other Fantasia related replacement parts for sale, color wheels etc. I will also give a heads up to you all on here prior to me listing them on ebay. Reply to this thread to give me an idea of how many "goo members" alone I will be helping out with sprays. I look forward in helping many of you get your vintage Fantasia lamps back!!

 

As a heads up I WILL NOT be offering "Heat Formed" replacement sprays as the process in doing this is very involved and requires special techniques and equipment I do not have access to, perhaps down the road when the lighting business I am trying to get launched is successfully up and running.

Mr. Virmond also confirmed dimensions of both sprays:

 

Glass Fibre Spray 9000 112 with approximately 10,000 Glass Fibres: 

Total length appr. 35 cm (13.7795 inches)

Diameter of capsule (gray aluminium) appr. 18 mm (0,70866 inches) 

 

Glass Fibre Spray 9000 115 with approximately 14,000 Glass Fibres: 

Total length appr. 35 cm (13.7795 inches)

I've just sent a follow-up inquiry regarding the "Additional Postage (USA), in the amount of 45,80 Euros":

1.  Will shipment to the US be by OCEAN FREIGHT or AIR FREIGHT?
2.  Does this amount include INSURANCE coverage?
3.  Will DHL DELIVERY be to my home address, or do they only deliver to the US Airport or Seaport?

I think there will no be extra costs for delivery to your home. At least in my Company we have Never expirienced that.
The Price is definetly for air freight
DHL only does insured
If DHL delivers in the US the will deliver to your home adress, if there is no DHL in your area they Hand IT to local delivery service. You can See that when you have the Tracking number
The fee for Paypal I think is ok, because otherwise he Would lose that money.

Buy the way I will be visiting Mr. Virmond Next weekend
He lives just an hour and a half away from me
And he invited me to visit him and his wife.
Maybe I can arange taking some pics

Jasmin, when you meet with mr. Virmond perhaps you could tell him about the demand for these sprays here in the states and if we were to ship him (donate) a Fantasia Sunburst base if he would consider producing the longer hanging fiber bundle spray 18" long. He could easily get an additional 20-30 bucks for the additional length and would be worth it for those in search of the longer spray. It's worth a mention. He obviously has the trimming process down that I could not achieve.

This is a terrific question.  I would be willing to pay an additional US$20.00 - $30.00 for a larger spray that fits an old Fantasia 4000 model lamp.   If Mr. Virmond can produce such a spray, I may delay my order.   If he agrees it is possible, I'm wondering what the production time would be / when they might be available for shipment.

He is retired and that he still Produces is more a Little extra to his retirment.

So hopefully the company will continue being that he is retired. I hope he has people well trained in the trimming process of these sprays. I made a valid attempt and it is very difficult! An art for sure!

Jasmin... I know you are doing all this work on your own time.  In my opinion, you deserve an increase in pay. 

I've just received a response from Mr. Virmond regarding Insurance costs.  He quoted 500 EUR, (about US$ 562.77).  I believe he intended to write 5.00 EUR, (about US$ 5.63.), omitting the decimal point.

He also confirmed Jasmin's message... DHL shipment will be AIR, and, "the parcel will be delivered to your home (three times to your door, after three times to your local post office".  (I understand that to mean, after making 3 delivery attempts to my home address, DHL will turn the package over to my local Post Office for handling.)

You heard her everyone, hes retired, once hes done hes done so buy now while you can, see if it will work and if it does, those of us willing to invest it would be a good idea to just purchase a few of them, who knows when another glass fiber optic opportunity will open up down the road. I just might buy 10 or so of them, future lamps, for sale, etc..

Perhaps Mr Virmond may have an opening for you, and you could help assume management.  It sounds like he does not have any family or friends interested in taking over his company.

I worked for the same company for over 40 years.  I was hired right out of High School.  They began operations in Denver about 1912, but have since closed their offices here, and moved their corporate offices to Brussels. Luckily, they had a pension plan.
