I'm not sure I would pay that price now, but the Purple/Pink is getting harder to find. I bought mine from Pam @ End of the Rainbow years ago & probably paid that much for it! I'd wanted a black Starship for forever & a fellow GooHead hooked me up, so it's not much interest to me. But it's a fine looking lamp! I'd try to snatch it, if I didn't already have the base & globe!
Yeah I've checked craiglist...got a decent midnight 320z at a decent price from that, but that's it.
So far the yard sales have been a total bust - missed one by 5 minutes though two Saturdays ago, when daughter wouldn't get up in time to hit the neighborhood early. 5 MINUTES !
ouch. i would be bitter too. did you take her princess stuff away? i would if it was my daughter. i got some midnights also but got some great vintage 60's 70's ones too. how many yard sales do you go to in a weekend? is it hit and miss?
Since I've had the fever I've gone early to every yard sale in a 5 mile radius and the closest I've gotten was the near miss. But that's in Memphis, TN...
Man, the fever is bad. I live in Seattle, WA and it's not bad up here. I have gotten a few from yard and estate sales. Good luck with the starship. I did see another starship on ebay but it had the blue/ yellow lava. The cap is dented but it's a starship. http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=120565398198...
You'd think with all the people who've lived out here forever, that there would be more vintage lamps available in the DC area... But noooooooooooooo, nothing, nada, zip, zilch, zeeee-ro. Damn the bad luck! I think I need to move.
I picked up a black base one with purple/pink globe for 12 bucks on ebay last year.
A couple months back I paid five dollars for just the silver base from someone off craigslist. It did come with a teal globe initially that the kid dropped down the stairs and smashed about ten minutes before I picked it up...was gonna pick up the whole thing for 10 dollars, quite unfortunate.
