Come on!
By the way, they're doing something cool for their 50th, but you won't be able to buy it:
Mathmos unveil the biggest lava lamp in the world; 200 liters of Mathmos' unique lava lamp formula.

Ummm, you posted the same like 3 responses above. We get it - you hate Lava Lite. Do you know the back story on how 60s Lights came into existence? We got sick and tired of the Mathmos fanboy'ism and Lava Lite bashing by Astro and Bohdan. You may be better suited as a mod on their site than this one. Just my honest opinion.
Putting you on ignore.

Still we could be stuck with LL only lol. Cheaply made lamps that look terrible
Brad said:the wax looks terrible! my thoughts are that the wax is new as it looks like MT wax during the first run. this company has soo much potential yet they seem just fine with producing lava lamps in an iterative fashion (e.g. changing base and wax color combinations but not really innovating).

That's not the point.
Mathmos make good lamps for 50 years, and they were supposed to celebrate this anniversary with class and panache.
How often they'll have the opportunity to celebrate this anniversary? Once! (and I doubt they'll be there in 50 years with their lack of innovations).
they missed it :-(
They should have create a new lamp (last new design was the Fireflow) with a limited edition (not a lame new color base with some stickers).
What about a new limited run of the classic Lunar in copper finish?
What about a double size Lunar or Astro?
Now were talking about something really special, people will remember, and that will be sought after in many years.
I doubt that will be the case with this ugly "fake gold" astro.
Is this really appropriate to celebrate a 50th anniversary?
No, this is a shame.
Shame to Mathmos!!!

Its true they could have done something a bit better, I can agree with u there . But at least they still make great looking and flowing lamps.

Let's keep the personal attacks off this thread.
There's nothing wrong with not liking Lava Lite or Mathmos, but if we're going to bash, be constructive in your bashing. I think we can all agree both companies dropped the ball in celebrating the 50th anniversary, but Lava Lite did moreso.
Jim I don't think Trevor was out of line with his comment, but let's get this back on track and keep the personal jabs out of these threads. Take it up in PMs if you must duke it out, m'kay?
Genius… pure genius… just like the ole’ mucker himself…
…give them a taste of it and leave them wanting for more !!!
You don't get it, don't you?
It's not about this lamp (it could have been in plated gold, it would still stink.)
It's about the lack of inventivity, the missed opportunity to make something really special.
If you're satisfied with what they've done here, good for you.
Me and other here were expecting something bigger than a color change...

if you don't like the lamps then don't buy them.
OK confirmed: you definitively don't get it.
Can't help you.
Sorry

Oh yes I do get it. Its the constant slagging off of Mathmos that gets to me.
Alright, that's enough. Take the personal stuff offline. You can be critical, but only if you're going to be constructive. This thread is getting de-railed, so I'm going to ask politely to keep it back on track and save the name-calling and snarky comments for private messages.
You can criticize, but be constructive. We're all entitled to our own opinions here, but I'm getting really tired of generic "brand X sucks" comments.
It's OK to be let down by Mathmos. It's OK to hate Lava Lite. But, unless you have something new or thoughtful to add to the discussion, the fighting needs to stop. We're not getting anywhere here.
@Erin: that's my post.
I can say I'm furious the way Mathmos dealt with their 50th birthday.
If some other are satisfied with their "color changed Astro", that's not my problem.
But when someone says I'm bashing Mathmos, that proves that person didn't understand the motive of this thread.
I tried to explain many times, but some people don't get it.
End of the point for me.
I love Mathmos products, that's why I'm so disapointed by what they've done (or didn't in this case).
It's obvious you both feel strongly about this, and that's fine (and even good), but saying things like "you don't get it" and "rubbish from China" aren't moving this thread along.
