Oozing Goo - The Lava Lamp Syndicate

The wax just sits in the bottom and does not move

Hello everyone I am a newbie to this site and got back into the LL here recently and bought three at a local store that where having a sale and wouldn't you know one of them just has the wax sitting on the bottom in a bulge for the past two days. Is there a way to fix this or am I out the dough. Thanks to any and all.

Check the wattage of the bulb, make sure it matches the other two, sounds like it's not getting hot enough.

Thanks for your response and to tell the truth I had a long conversation with Gwen in the chat box and we discussed all things lava and she calls it ' lazy wax' and yes I bought three of the lamps and have interchanged the bulbs (15w) the lamp is smallish at 12oz and the other two work fairly well as far as the flow goes and Gwen also related the issues with "China Flow" and what has been going on with that scene. I even put a warmer bulb in it to see if that was the issue and the wax started to streak instead of blob and I immediately turned it off and let it cool down and relit it and now it has been on for 24hrs and seperated a tad and I swirled it and got the top wax to rejoin the bottom and it has started to move a little. The thing is when I first got it it worked passably then someone shook it and that started the problem I believe. I let it set for a day or so to settle down so to speak and as we speak it is on and has started to move one blob at a time finally. The other two lamps work resonalbly well. Also speaking with Gwen she related how the formula has changed from the ones I remember from the 60's. She also stated that in order to find those that work 'properly' I should seek out the ones made in UK and besides being expensive there are issues with the electrical configuration as Euro is on the 240v systems. She also said the US Mathmos is yet to be up and running and folks have been awaiting their start up and that LL is supposed to be coming back from overseas. Phew I found out more last night about these things than I ever knew existed and here I was thinking all lamps where created equal. A real eye opener. Thanks to all.
