Made in China?

Is everything made in China these days..Yet another American Icon sold out to cheap labor to line the pockets of the execs.

The China Lamps look cheap and dont flow right either..If I want a "new" lamp Im gona fork over the cash to buy a premium Mathmos lamp that still uses the original formula!

Free Trade is a scam! It screws the middle class! Call your politician and tell them that you dont support outsourcing and corporations need to be held accountable. Outsourcing isnt the fault of the workers or unions. Its our government pursuing voodoo economics and not having the slightest bit of pro industry protectionism. If corporations continue down this road we will have nothing more than a service based economy in which wages stagnant and decline..

Its basic economics.....When you add raw materials and labor it creates wealth! When you have a middle class that has a manufacturing base to provide employment it creates DEMAND! No Demand No Jobs..Then so goes every great thing in this country including the iconic Lava Lamp!

Sorry bout my rant but I was pissed when I went to spencers and read the box!

Good Points...Rich people dont creat jobs DEMAND does! Not sure about this...I thought the Republicans were against any deficits and were the party of fiscal rational...So why are they for expanding the deficit by 450+ billion dollars just to give the wealthy a tax cut? Sounds like a broken campaign and party flaw..

Im a liberal and vote typically vote for the Democratic Party but they too are broken..I think Ralph Nader and the green party is calling for my support. The Democratic party is in shambles for putting all of its chips in the Obama admin and not holding true to its core values. Its no different then how the republican party was in shambles during the Bush Admin.

I hate politics..Unless your a Wall St player non of the parties give a shit about you!

Brings us back to the recent decision to extend Bush tax breaks for all income levels. It is absolutely the right thing to do. Just because you work hard and are successful doesn't mean it is your responsibility to support the slackers of our society. However, I have an issue with their rationale. Tax breaks for the wealthy as they are the job creators. I call BS on that. Its a theory, and nothing more than a theory. I am sure a number of these wealthy citizens send those tax savings offshore to shield it from taxes.

Don't just use a blanket tax break with the assumption it will lead to job creation. Tie their tax break to actual job creation. For every American citizen you hire, you will get say a $2500 tax credit.

I see where ya coming from. Its a mess. I liked Perot. He was almost spot on with the outsourcing! Except it wasnt Mexico it was China..LOL

Taxes are a touchy subject with Our fellow countrymen. Its been that way since our founding and its good that there different views. Those different views keep a balance of power. We have Progressive Taxation in this country so how the money is spent is in theory up to us. The Gov is by US and for US . Since we have an elective representative republic/democracy we elect people to see to it that our commons and taxes are handled in a wise manor..But you know just as me that our elected officials no longer work for us rather the establishment and corporate/special interests. Its FUBAR! LO. Personally I dont mind paying taxes for parks, librarys, public education , road and so on and so on..But I see where you are coming from. Frustration is an understatement sometimes. We want the basics but our elected officials but our true needs to the side and put frosting on a turd and tell us its cake..lol.

But anyways still pissed about the CHINA lamps. I noticed that the glass is much more thin and the flow of these lamps blows. I guess you get what you pay for! When the lamps costed double and were of higher build they lasted longer and looked better! Im thinking of buying a Mathmos Lamp..Pricey to say the least! But the Asto Baby is one bad ass lamp. Original formula too. Then there is always goo kits! I want one too.

I do believe what's fair is fair. If everyone else gets a tax cut, why shouldn't the wealthy. Why does the government think they are entitled to your "stuff" when you die? You already got taxed once and now they want to retax you?

Extending unemployment benefits is a lousy idea. These are folks who have been out of work for like 2 years and now we are being asked to support them for another year? Get off your ass and get a damn job! And the fact that the 1/3 of the population that doesn't even pay a penny in income taxes still gets a refund? For what?

And then there are property taxes. Just love paying for my neighbors kids to go to school. I know the argument... better schools maintain home values. However, there comes a point that your tax nut is so large that folks simply don't want to move there, good schools or not.
