Oozing Goo - The Lava Lamp Syndicate

I hope this is in the right place!!!  I found this older link on cowmation's replacement coil posting and was wondering if anyone knew if this was a 52 oz size bottle?  I wouldn't mind ordering a few for my goo kits if I ever need replacement globes or would just like to see if the quality of the glass is better then the china globes I have now with all those starry occlusions!!  If I could get a clearer bottle that would be awesome, but I need 52's.

Height and width lines up with the 32oz on my desk, this is awesome! Looks like it even comes with a coil per the product photo. I may need to get a few, caps, capper and a goo kit and start pumping out some custom swap globes!  Nice resurrection of that link!

On the post it says that they come in 2 sizes Vox!!!  I wonder if they have 52's available...???  I may have to make a phone call.  If I call them, I will ask if the coil does in fact come with the globes.  It looks like it does.  They look a bit slimmer then the original LL globe to me though.  What do you think?  I heard because of the LL trademark to get away with marketing, they have to alter the shape just a bit.  So It may be a tradeoff.  Different shape globe, no occlusions for a LL shape globe tons of occlusions......as long as it will fit on the base and not topple or wobble.....hummm???

Looks interesting...

But our Menards always has 32oz Lava lamps on sale

for about $18.  For this you get it all; base with cord and

bulb, bottle and a cap.  Just dump it out and make your own.

I talked to them a few months ago. They only have the 32 oz. bottles left, they had 52's.  The bottles are American made, and some have the coil. They said to let them know when ordering that you want the coil, and they will make sure you get ones with the coil.

These are surplus 32 oz. LL globes, Cowmation covered it all ;)

I wonder if they will get any 52's back in stock or is this just a one time deal?

It's just a one time deal, unfortunately. They bought lava lites leftover bottles when they moved production to China. I'd love some 52oz bottles too! I asked them if they knew who the glass manufacturer was, and they looked into it, but they couldn't find out unfortunately. All they knew is that they were American made.

Some time ago, there was a member who asked where he could get these globes and some other member posted a site.  I'm going to look back tomorrow and see if I can find that posting.

They have had these for years.  I know a couple of years ago they still had the 52 oz, but there is no source to resupply stock now.

The pictured bottle is a 32oz and they are the left over US made bottles from LavaLIte.They did have 52s at one time but a few of us locals cleaned them out :) That happens to be one of my favorite stores. I have several, Carol gets first dibs but I do not have any bases or caps. I think I paid $5.75 each.

Below is form a previous post I made about where stuff was made....

.

The 32oz and 52oz bottles came from two different sources
Kimble Glass in Warsaw, Indiana
Owens Illinois in both Perrysburg, Ohio and Toledo, Ohio

The bottles caps were all from
Crown Cork & Seal in Aurora, Illinois

The wax was indeed.....Crayola
Crayola in Easton, Pennsylvania
I was told from time to time other batches were from other manufacturers but the majority supplier was Crayola.

The original Giant and Humungo globes were made in Germany (manufacture unknown)

The 32oz, 52oz, Giant and Humungo bases were made by
Chicago Lighting Supply
I was told they were the sole supplier from the late 70's until 1997 or 1998 when LavaWorld moved the 32oz and 52oz bases to a China supplier. Chicago Lighting made all of the Giant and Humungo bases.

That's amazing how you know this Lamphead!!!
