Oozing Goo - The Lava Lamp Syndicate

Hey there collectors - I'm a total newbie, so please forgive me if I am not following protocol.

How do I know if my lamp is rare? I have a strong feeling it isn't, but would love your opinions on how much it could be worth, just in case. I bought it in '96. black base. the globe has red lava in clear liquid. A guy at a garage sale told me to look at the big numbers on the cap, but i have no idea what they mean - the number is 18 on mine. It's in pretty good shape, I think. I wouldn't call it pristine (the glass doesn't seem as clear as my other lamp), but the lava runs great.

What can you tell me?

The 18 on the cap means that the globe color is cranberry/clear. I'm not sure how rare it is, but it is not seen for sale that often. A collector would pay more for that color than for the more common colors.
This is a popular color it seems on Craigslist. I now have 5 of these lamps. Only paid $5 bux for each of them. All in pristine condition too.
