Oozing Goo - The Lava Lamp Syndicate

Welcome Keith and any future new members.  While this may seem to be a bit obscure in terms of motion lamps we tend to buy, I would like to introduce you to what one enterprising company has done.

Fluux Design Labs

They do not currently have a ferrofluid display for sale, but soon my friends... soon.  Not sure what the future MSRP will be.

Fluux raised money via Kickstarter and that is where Critter and myself got on board.  At the conclusion of their very very successful Kickstarter campaign (i.e. 564% funded), I dropped a note to Voxul and he was able to grovel his way into being an early adopter as well.  We should hopefully be receiving our units shortly as they did send out a survey yesterday confirming shipping details and allowing you to select the base color.

The display vessel can be mounted vertically or horizontally.  This is a "human powered" motion lamp - not sure about Voxul, but both Critter and myself ordered two magnets (so our spouses can interact as well).

I intentionally didn't widely advertise the availability of this fascinating new toy.  This was my first time backing a Kickstarter project and I didn't really know what to expect.  I had no problem inviting Critter to go down in flames with me, but I didn't want to soil my board rep by essentially endorsing a product and experience I know nothing about.  And the experience (i.e. Kickstarter) made me happy I kept this one quiet.  Let's just say Kickstarter is "different" if you have never backed a Kickstarter project.  The timeline on this ferrofluid display was missed in spectacular fashion.  Thing is, you need to pretty much EXPECT this type of delay with Kickstarter.  The creators may have been able to generate a prototype, but keep in mind that they sold 1300+ units through Kickstarter.  Making one prototype versus producing 1300 finished units = big difference.

I went with two magnets as well, silver on the finish.  Both versions will be stunning and it will be exciting to see it hit retail!

I totally understand the hush hush on a Kickstarter, I have been involved with a couple that have amounted to less than desirable follow through and would not want to be the one that spread the word only to leave people empty handed.

It's so nice to be loved!

HAHA, I was going to mention that and then comment - oh, thanks, try to drag me down too at the very end!?  Kidding Jim, still many thanks!
