Oozing Goo - The Lava Lamp Syndicate

I remade my Grande with Kit BUT have a slight problem. How long does it take for a normal grande to heat up ??

Ive had my lamp on for 5 hours and nothing the lave just pillird up but not fully melted yet. Is it similler to a new lamp where it takes afew times to break in the wax or did i do something wrong here. Ohh yeah does anyone know what would happen if you used slightly to much sufecant or soap I think I added 10 ml to much ??
