Taking a small survey here
On your Colossus, What is distance from the bottom of the globe (using the horizontal interior rim that the globe sits on as measuring point) to the top of the lamp, does your Colossus have?
I used a small ruler and bridged the rim from one side to the other and measured down to top of lamp.
There have been some changes in bulbs from LL in the past and would like some input
Experimenting with several different bulbs types (Halogen PAR38 floods, etc) and wattages (200-300)
Any input would help.
Currently have 1/2" from globe to top of flood with varied results

Hi Claude,
I use a 250 watt R40H/T Westinghouse heat lamp in mine and it works great! I'm looking forward to seeing pics of your clear/red flowing!
Claude, So I see that it IS a Humongo! WOW what an Awesome find! That flow is AMAZING! Congrats to you! I really want to get my hands on one someday!
I would go with the 250 watt if I were you but that's just my opinion.
Enjoy!
Thaanks
it is heavy too
still need to get some data on the correct spacing
I'm not quite sure why the illumination is not to your liking. My 250 watt heat lamp gives great illumination. As far as I know the distance should be the same on mine as well. However the wax in your Colossus is completely different then mine. My lamp is 100% China made but yours was filled in the U.S. so the wax in your lamp is more dense and harder. This is just a thought tho. I hope this helps you a bit Claude.
If you are not happy with the Humongo I would be more then happy to trade you...LOL... just kidding! good luck and keep us posted! You got yourself one hell of a Lava Lamp! Enjoy it!!
Actually, I am looking for a change.
I recently bought a NIB colossus locally and I am (Upons wifes request) looking to make another one match on the other side of TV.
I would do either:
Full trade for colossus with table
or
Swap bases for a mint shape aluminum one in exchange for my updated porsche racing white painted one

Hi Claude!
I'm not looking to do a trade right now but I will keep you in mind for the future if I decide to do so. Please post some pics of that new Colossus you got when its up and running!! I would love to see it!! Clear/red is my favorite! I love my purple/pink but I wish I would have went for the clear/red...oh well.
