Something Interesting About Me:
Been collecting since May of 2010. I love my five birdies (four parakeets and one cockatiel), photography, gardening and crochet. I told myself I wouldn't get more than ten. :) During the first 10 days, I got five, so we'll see how this goes. :) Update 10/08/10: I'm at 21 lamps. Clearly, I have a problem. Update 06/10/11: At about 35 lamps now, so yes, I do indeed have a little addiction! 08/04/11: You know, I'm going to quit counting...

My First Lava Lamp was:
I remember the first lava lamp I ever saw was at my great-grandparents' house in Colorado in the mid-80s. I thought it was so cool! I do not remember the color combo though.

Got one as a teenager (early 90s yellow/red), then attempted to sell it at garage sale in 2003 and my landlord shattered it. I remember really liking it, so I don't know what possessed me to sell it. Now, seven or so years later, I've become interested in them again.

    Thanks. Been trying my hand at making lava and all that. Am having trouble determining what surfactant to use in place of soap since apparently it breaks down the wax over time. Also, what are the ratios of lava to bottle size that should be used for proper flow of the lava? If you could point me to someone who knows or if you know, any help would be greatly appreciated. This is quickly becoming the hobby that will get me through winter. I await and look forward to your response.

    both great color choices.. I would love to see a cranberry that has more of the magenta tone to it. At least for me.. when my cranberry is next to a red.. there is not much of a difference as I wish. When cold you can see the difference clearly but once hot and flowing ...

    Mine looks a lot like yours. I wouldn't call it cloudy exactly, it just isn't crystal clear. I guess if you just had it going 5 days, its probably not enough time yet. Is this the one that sold on ebay last week? I was watching it. Glad you swiped it up!

    One of the problems I'm having is that I'm not even sure what color combo it really is supposed to be. It has yellow lava and yellow liquid, but I'm wondering if it's supposed to be clear. I have lamps that are WAY worse, but I'm really hoping it clears up like the rest of my big guys.
