Hi Kate, yes these lamps are really cool and they were made by Crestworth of Poole in the 1970's (makers of the original lava lamp).

The Dome, which is smoked perspex, protects the very fragile glass fibres.

wow this is cool, never seen one of these, is it a fiber optic lamp? why is it in a dome? cool design.
