Oozing Goo - The Lava Lamp Syndicate

Here’s a pic of two Royal lamps made by Lava Lite, LLC. I purchased them on 12/18/09 but returned them as I will explain in a moment. One is purple/yellow and the other is blue/yellow. This photo was taken about 3.5 hours into the operation. I noticed at about the 5 hour mark that the lava would mostly rise to the top with the remaining lava hovering in a stall about halfway up the globe. No lava would be on the bottom except for that which was trapped in the coil. Were they too hot or just more of the crap that lava is making these days. Needless to say, they went back to Spencer’s within days. Here’s a piece of advice. If you want an authentic Lava Lite you need to open the box before buying it since the liquid is likely to be cloudy or the globe is likely to be scratched or have numerous bubbles in the glass from manufacturing. Then it’s a question of if it will flow properly when you operate it? Trust me, I only have three contemporary lamps that work satisfactorily (some with the bulbs masked with aluminum foil to tone them down). I have opened literally dozens of packages at Wal-Mart and K-Mart looking for a good lamp. I recently emailed LW again to ask a question about a 27” Lava Grande but they won’t answer my email. If you guys at LW are checking in here at the Goo we would appreciate your growing a pair and letting us know why your customer service and product quality are so non-existent. You guys used to be the best game in town. Now you’re nothing but another Chinese knockoff. In case you haven’t noticed, in today’s market the motto is: Hurtle the dead, trample the weak. Don’t become a statistic. All of us here would like to see you continue as an American Icon, much like Zippo lighters.

Thanks Pascal. I did as well. Too bad the lamps didn't work well. I've always been a fan of the blue lamps but have found a new love for the purple/yellow lamps as well. The lava changes color as it rises as you can easily see in the pic. Have a great day out there!
