I hear ya Grant - going into a thrift store I equate with wasting 5-10 minutes of my life and I avoid them on principle. Never ever found a lamp and convinced I never will. So why bother? Flea markets (i.e. boot sales) have a little more potential. Especially near where I live seeing as Lava Lite/Lava World/Lava Simplex has always called Chicago home. Bonus is the opportunity for a funnel cake as well.
To be honest it's many years of ebay addiction, buying and selling other people collections and knowing a few ex Crestworth employee's, only one lamp from a bootfair has made it into my collection, gave up bootfairs couple of years ago as it was getting annoying getting up at stupid o clock on a Sunday morning to look at trash and I don't have much luck at junk shops either, our version of your thrift stores...mainly it comes down to buying, if what I brought is better than I have already I trade up, I have probably 100+ Crestworth lamps in new other or like new condition, none of my lamps look there age, but to get to this point I may of had maybe 500+ go through my hands. Then there is the time capsule finds like this rare Brass Phantomlite and this Aromalite, they have never been used or even plugged up.
Very nice Grant! You must go to some real nice thrift stores. Or are these all from boot sales?
Crestacular!!!!!!!!!!!!
