Looks great! Why was the dimmer a fire hazard? I'm assuming it was broken or something.

Yes, by the trash, I know! terrible! (and lucky ;)

I replaced the lamp, screwed it in a more heat resistant (porcelain) fitting, and replaced the fire hazard dimmer - it's now safely giving my room that classy 70's feeling it so lacked :)
