I got mine brand new.  Still have the original box.  They sold this model, along with the yellow/blue #1424 lamp at Target back in 1997-1998 for $44.99.  :D

Yea mine would overheat too.  Think I'll try it on a dimmer.  Yours looks great.

this looks much better than it did when i first received it.  i had to switch to a frosted 40w vs. a clear 40w to keep it from overheating.  with a clear 40w, it would spit out a bunch of pea-sized blobs.
