It looks great, but changes almost immediately to orange once it starts to rise - but it's flow was bubbly.

I've found with the older wax it snakes more - which i prefer!

I've also found that the older wax accepts new astro liquid very nicely. Just revamped my original clear-orange to violet-orange - in all respects i cannot fault it!

Comment by Knut on March 13, 2012 at 1:56pm: Hi Simon, in the green base yes, it's an old opal bottle thats gone off colour. I got another opal fluidium around the same time that has really white wax. I've been running it 6 hours a day for 6 months and it's not discoloured yet. Hopefully as ive only used halogen bulbs on a dimmer and not the old style bulbs it will stay nice and white.

I find any green or yellow or white mathmos wax to be quite bubbly, especially in the fluidiums due it think to the step at the bottom of the bottle where it fits into the base. Did you ever take a pic of the yellow/violet combination? I'd love to see one before i go ahead. I'm imagining it will look a lot more like an orange wax bottle...

It was nice but very bubbly - even with the dimmer!

Comment by Knut on March 6, 2012 at 4:33pm: Thx :) I'm thinking of swapping the liquid in the off colour opal bottle to blue & possibly the yellow/clear one to yellow/violet... I've got another 4 fluidiums in the full colour range, all running too, just elsewhere in the room and all with clear liquids. That's why I'm thinking of the colour changes I mention. Bit expensive though. If Mathmos had a bottle sale this year I must have missed it :( The blue/green in the opal base & cap looks lovely in the back there though, I'd never tried that before.
