Oh and are those specs of missing tint normal for the Wizard lamps?

The info is most appreciated. I was hoping somebody would help me on that. As for the electrical tape, the idea was to block the light so the lamp would be more suited as a night light. I am concerned, however, that this will cause the lamp to overheat and explode, which would be fatal because I sleep with it right next to my head. Do you think that is a possibility?
