Oozing Goo - The Lava Lamp Syndicate

This is the piece that came with my model 101 Lava Lite today. The box and instructions note an address I haven't seen before: 1800 West Roscoe Street, Chicago, Il 60657. Also note that for the wattage of the bulb, a 50 seems to be written in by hand. This lamp came with a Westinghouse 50W bulb.

Seems as if they hadn't determined the "final" wax formula (final for several years anyway).  I would guess a softer wax.  The wording "the base material will remain dormant at the bottom of the globe.  As the warmth takes effect, the "Lava Lite" will start to undulate and the base material will start to climb, etc." indicates to me that there was no "spike" cycle to this early formula, and that it would be soft wax.  Total speculation though

I was really surprised about the 50W bulb, too. I tried a 30W reflector in there and it wouldn't flow. I may try again. It's odd to me that it calls for a 50W when there's so little wax in this one, too.
