Oozing Goo - The Lava Lamp Syndicate

The 3rd lamp I got today from the same seller, I never saw anything like this. Anybody know anything about this lamp let me know. I love that it is so sleek!

My one and only boiler lamp had a weighted bottom because it would suddenly 'jump up' when the beads were ready to explode into action. Sadly it died...

Nice Boiler lamp. Please post it to 'We love French Boliers' group page. (Join if you like too!)

It IS very cool, and rare, only the third I've seen hit the market. Please post loads of photos when you get it. I update my Boiler List regularly with all the newly-found models. If yours is red rather than amber, I'll be adding that one. These are very fragile and, except for the outer covers (usually a band of adhesive foil, but in your case a thicker material) and the socket, which slides in from beneath, the entire lamp is made out of glass, sealed completely at the top. Some models rest in or on a base, but in most cases, like this one, the base is an integral part of the entire unit.

These contain a tick liquid in the bottom, usually colored, and a thinner one above, usually clear. Like a Christmas Bubble Lite, bubbles of vapor form near the heat source, grow, then rise; they carry a coating of the colored liquid, which then forms into a droplet at the top and floats down again. In models with "beads" there are masses of glass beads in the lower liquid which break up the rising bubbles. They're a category unlike any other, with hinted similarities to a lava lamp.

You are correct it is a Lava boiler with beads and stitched white leather or vinyl covers. Also came in Black, Found a picture of the one I got today in action, I will post it. I can't wait to get this is very cool!

Jonas made a chart of all the known French boiler type lamps, some have glitter in them, others have tiny glass beads that rise and fall with air bubbles, and still others just 'boil' from the heat of the bulb.

Never Heard of a Boiler Lamp? what is this? I have not gotten this lamp yet. I won it today in an auction with 2 other lamps from the same seller. I know it is a Glitter lamp the seller told me. Frank

That looks like what is known as a boiler lamp. Does the base have lots of glass beads?
