My first Giant (not a Grande)

From Mike (BlindFaith). It's hazy, but I have hopes that it will clear. The flow on this thing is amazing. I've never seen anything like it. Better pics coming soon... this one sucks, I know!

Comment by LampHead on August 17, 2012 at 1:55am: Giants were $ 299 at Spencers, some were sold at the same or higher prices at "head shops". They were the top prize at Dave & Busters for awhile too. The glass bottle was made in Germany and filled in Chicago by hand, there was no production line for the Giants. I believe the total amount made ( all colors ) was 1000 lamps.

Comment by MattMJB0188 on August 16, 2012 at 10:22pm: I believe they were only manufactured in 1996, maybe 1997 for a short time. Believe it or NOT they didn't sell well. There were too much of a hassle to sell. In the 1990s Lava World was selling one lamp and that was the Midnight, and then Silver Streak, and then Elek-Trick series. The 52oz lamps were not as popular as they were in the 70s, but nonetheless were still selling decently.

When I was around 10 in 1998, Spencer's had an entire display for the Midnights. I remember the Elek-Tricks being spread out. Then around 2000 when I went in there you could pick out any globe and base. Boy did I love that. I really wish they would bring that back.

Comment by Erin on August 16, 2012 at 9:08pm: I think someone told me they were around $300. I have no remembrance of lava at Spencer's. Sad. If only I knew then what I know now. I wonder why Giants are so rare? Were they too expensive or did they not make many of them? You really don't see too many for sale... ever.
