A True Frankenlamp!

Lamp base is a Lava Lite China from Autumn's watermelon Neon (she only wanted the globe and cap). Globe is a 1984 Century - same as the cap. The contents are from Loren.

Drilled pinholes and painted - it turned out really cool! The paint is textured and has little glitter pieces in it. Subtle, but neat up close.

It doesn't have a footed base - it's just sitting on a candle holder until it properly cures. :)

NOW! What color to dye the liquid? Keeping it clear is not an option!

Comment by Jonas Clark-Elliott on May 21, 2013 at 2:06am: I, personally, wouldn't dye the liquid; I'd paint colors on the bottom with 'stained glass' paint. Pink, blue, green, yellow. If I did do color, I'd do sky blue, I think that'd go well with the textured black/glitter base for a 60s space-age look.

Anyone have any ideas on dye besides McCormick's - I'm realizing that stuff faded over time.
