Actually when I got it the lamp had obviously been ran a lot since it had residue on the inside. It ran with clear lava the first time and then about 4 other times it ran opaque. Since I posted the photo I have ran it every day, and every time it runs with clear lava.
I have seen some peace lamps act the same. There is a place locally that always runs one, and the lava is always transparent, so I may have lucked out. I had always wished my goo kit kept its transparent look.
