This is exactly what I am looking for as a gift for my niece, with a purple blue globe. I am unemployed and broke at the moment, would you consider a trade? I have a small but nice vintage collection.

I have a pink purple I can throw on it, or a purple/blue. Keith is right I think. But the other way of telling is the bottom is dated march 5th 2000

Libby, the reproduction base is uniform.  They all look the same.  I think the original were all hand painted resulting in different patterns.

Never thought about putting a Rainbow globe on a zebra base, but it ain't bad!   I do like that base, it would go nicely with my Leopard base, but already have two Rainbow globes.  :-(    How do you tell the real from the repro?
