I didn't get to read the hair dryer suggestion as I was off doing the water trick. Worked like a charm! Thanks a bunch! Now to find out what top goes on it. Missing when bought.

Try running really hot water on the top of the globe , it should loosen up the top and make it sink to the bottom again.
