Oozing Goo - The Lava Lamp Syndicate

My fathers Timeband, module by Fairchild. I witnessed this piece illuminate for the first time last night after being seen last when I was 4ish years old. He changed the batteries one day and the clip that holds them down, broke. Its band went rogue, probably re-purposed or sold it for a fancy quartz LCD ha. The main watch body was put in a box and I would take it out every so often to ask him 'turn it on!' only to get the sad reply of, sorry Nick, it is broken :(. I am still in need of a proper battery clip and to lock down the original band that was issued with this model, internet has few leads to a complete watch. The illumination is far out, you would swear the digits were built of neon tubes the size of a human hair.

I'm sure I have seen such clips somewhere, if you can send me a pic so I can see the size and such I will keep my eyes peeled.

Thank you all for the encouragement! It has run stable all weekend but I would like to get a proper battery clip at some point. Built a bridge clip out of a barrette but jostling it around has the ability to knock it loose inside.

Carol, the photo shows the color bleed out from the numbers quite a bit but in person it is razor sharp red to just the illuminated numerals, it is very cool. More on par with laser lines than neon. I have that remake Pulsar that I wear and it uses lenses to magnify dot matrix LED, this one is a whole other ball game.

Arne, I can take a picture of the battery clip remnant that I have, tricky part to call out or find. It holds down two-386 button cell batteries and best described as a butterfly clip as it has to metal wings that flap out over the batteries while two points also jut out and friction fit underneath small slits in the module body. Better viewed than described, hah.

Same here, Keith! I have always been fascinated by this one particular watch. I may have seen it work once in my lifetime and then it broke. Years of looking at the dark aura of red glass as a kid left me in wonder. What does this thing do, I can ALMOST see inside the face of it but not enough to understand it. I only knew that it lit up.

This may have been the one watch body that sparked that collector in me. I don't own a Rolex, never really desired one, I own various rat rods.

Wow, that takes me back!
