AWESOME KEITH!  SOLD! That will be what I do if I pop it. Testing a magnet approach on a coil fix and then it goes under the knife and I walk away with magnets too strong for their own good.

Yea, I bet most twist offs would work depending on how well the threads play with the bottle lip. I want one too but I haven't popped any caps as of yet so it would be a little used luxury.  I am wondering how to go about the grande pop if I crack it open to add a coil... I know the pipe clamp would work great as it has for Keith but... I want it to look factory sealed again

I heard coke bottle caps too vox!!! I may have to invest in a cap sealer. For now ill use keiths hose clamp method.

I think it is as Keith and I suspected with the unsealed caps honestly.  Allowing fresh air into the globe might cause it to form condensation and a bubble/air layer on the glass wall inside. I say cut off the outside elements completely with a good sealing.  A bench capper would give you a fully sealed bottle, you can usually salvage the original Lava caps too if you don't taco them in their removal. I purchased a 32oz globe from a friend that had been re-coiled but original lava wax /fluids. They found that twist off Coors caps work perfect, I can confirm, it is sealed up nice with the twist off. It remains my most favorite and juicy lamp

Yeah and thats the one that fogged up Vox!!!! Just waitin on my surf to fluid change and do another globe cleaning. This time im going to seal it and see if that makes a difference. My son's blue is gettin a bit of condensate too so thinking that could be it. Do you think thst could come from overheating?

While the wax is violet I have to say that is a juicy blue hue under flash, it is wonderful under all light conditions!

ok, Keith, good to know.  I have to clean these 2 globes again anyway.  This time I'm going to do it right.  I hear that you should recap when you turn the lamp off for the evening.  This way during cool down, it will create the vacumn needed.  I will take the tin foil out and do the above then apply slight pressure using the hose clamp trick.  I have to hit up my hardware store for a smaller hose clamp.  The ones for my pool are all larger and the 52 oz'ers as you know have the smaller bottle neck then the grandes..........I don't feel like having to clean these globes every month because of condensate and I'm pretty sure that's the problem.  With the humidity this summer and the air conditioning and the constant change of climate maybe.  I don't know because my a/c hasn't been off all summer, but ya know they're lavas, they have their secrets. ......lol
