iO dimming/flow

Hi everyone, I bought a Mathmos iO which I love to pieces, I also bought a dimmer for it which I just plug in. Does anyone have any tips for running it for the longest and getting the best flow. The way I do it is plug it in and let it warm up at full power when the wax is melted and flowing, dim it down a little, 3 or 4 dots on the dimmer (see picture) is this the best way to do it?
