I have purchased two different lava lamps at garage sales and both have the same problem. Lava does not flow. It has a small glob on top and a larger glob on the bottom but basically nothing happens even after hours of being plugged in. I purchased these for a granddaughter and I am very disappointed. Would like to get them going again.

If these are particularly old lamps by say, Lava Lite, it could be that the wax is 'dead'; in that, wax or the 'lava' only has a finite lifespan, particulary if the lamp is used an awful lot. It is possible to get replacement globes i'm sure, just as we have here in the UK where i'm from. (UK - home of Mathmos lava lamps). I'm afraid to say too, some of the more recent lava world produce made in China leaves a lot to be desired quality wise and that the lava doesn't always flow too well. Are these recent bulid lamps or vintage? Why not post a pic to help us find a solution'.
