Oozing Goo - The Lava Lamp Syndicate

I have an all original 1975 Model lamp, I have been messing with the coil and have lost a little liquid out of it. I need to add  a couple of ounces but I am not sure what I can add that wont hurt it. I was told mine has different chemicals than newer ones. Any ideas?

How noticeable is it when it flows, if its not very then I would suggest leaving it but if you want to add a bit then some DI water would do the trick as long as its not much.

I don't know how different the formula is but you would be right to be cautious.
