I actually have two lava lamps now. Two days ago I found an original large pink and purple Mathmos lamp at a garage sale. I have just started learning about lava lamps and so I didn't know exactly how retro cool the Mathmos. They rock! I got it for 11 Australian dollars only. Im really stoked. It looks great except for the suspending liquid being quite milky. But it has a good size and it allows me to take the top off and fill in my own mix.
Do any of you know whether the old Mathmos lamps tended to have milky liquid? Or do you think that the guy I bought it from has been testing his own recipes? I regret not asking him about it when I bought the lamp.
Anyways, I am reading up on some recipes on the forum and will try my own mix when I have time.

There's always plenty of other cool stuff on other funky lighting like glitter lamps and fiber optic lamps as well. Why not start or contribute towards one of the (usually lava lamp related) discussions here too.

Oh yes, and don't forget the chat function to interact with your fellow lava lamp fans here as well!
