Telstar Base re-design

Hi everyone, so I had a Telstar but the inside where the bulb fitted broke, it was so hard to put a bulb in and seemed like such an awkward design. Anyways cut a long story short they sent me a replacement and the inside is now totally different and much better (fixed to the bottom) anyone else had a new one and noticed this ?
