Interesting floor lamp.  I would say it is similar to a run of Lumisource pillars that showed up in Big Lots. The Lumisource has a vessel about that same height, maybe taller, but sits on a base that is elevated much higher off the ground.  They stand about 5.25ft off the ground whereas this one is noted to stand at just under 3ft tall at its highest point.

Those vessels look identical to the Lumisource run, I have one that can be seen here. If it is like mine it will take a hard to find and rather expensive 60w reflector bulb. I will have to unearth the bulb link again but confirm that it would have cost me $18+ to have one bulb shipped to me within the USA.

Yeah I saw those at Big Lots and they always looked like they could fall easily.  These would have a better center of gravity.  I do like the looks of these!

It is a cool lamp, I know mine ran awesome with the right bulb. You are correct, the taller Lumisource is very prone to tipping over. Mine was in a few situations where it just about came crashing down.

Ask Jim sometime about using one of those globes on a fireflow

Uh oh.... is this a good memory or a bad one?!

Well it did work . . . .

i'd be worried about the flow in those things.  Seems like they either don't put enough goo in them or the tube is soooo long that you just get those stupid balls floating around willy nilly in the fluid.  Some like that look, but I SAY, give me the snakes, columns, balls, I want it all.  I think that is why I like goo kitting.  It gives me the control of how much lava and how much flow.  225 grams is most def the sweet spot in a 52 oz'er thanks to Lamphead.  Never a dull moment with my kits.  I have seen an mt version of one of those lamps in flow and it does get pretty snakey, but again that is mt and IMO they have some nice flowing goo.  I'm liking it better then the LL china lamps I've been getting so I regoo them.  Pop a dimmer on and BAM flow adjustment....it's pretty sweet.......working on my pretty in pink now......news at 11!!!

Did is the key word here huh

I tried mine again last night with foil to boost the 40w, no good. I wonder if this would be a perfect candidate for a goo kit as it seems that wax melts at lower temps.  It gets bubbling and sends up good chunks about halfway then they fall.  I will say the wax in the pillar beats the wax in a China LL.

Goo Kit, did someone say Goo kit?????????????

I have the floor model like voxul is talking about and i had to get a socket converter to go to the S11 base bulb and get a 60 w golf ball bulb but even those are hard to find and it flows on that bulb. But carol it does flow very activaly and ussually in small balls but i know i over ran it a few times. As far as i know u cant gookit them at least not easily because it is a sealed glass tube with a decrotive metal hat glued on top

Good to know Cody!  I was tempted to pop that steel cap off and see if it had a normal bottle cap, I will not be doing this now it sounds like! HAH

I would really like to get mine working right again but refuse to drop a $20 for one light bulb. Did you simply swap the socket off of the end of the wire, to an S11? I know the way that tube sits over the bulb is almost as if it is resting on the bulb itself, did you have to brace or prop your cylinder higher after the socket swap?

To add, I am betting it takes the same bulb as the taller Lumisource pillar, if so it is a 60w intermediate based R14 bulb. Find them under $20 per/find them at all and you instantly become the man/woman of all things lightbulb.....ready...steady...GO!

Edit: Wondering if these might get us flowing better than the 40w. It is the same base, SLIGHTLY taller and wider but only about .25" on either axis. The price is much nicer than the seemingly now vanished 60w incandescent. Any pillar lampers out there try this as a replacement for the 60w Intermediate R14?
