lt sounds like someone actually used it for camping lol

To answer your questions.

Yes remove the bottom part that unscrews, this is were the filtered water comes out. The blue clip (mine is red) is used to measure the micro filter's width. Because when you clean these ceramic filters, using a green scoring pad, it'll slowly wear down the filter's size making it thinner and thinner (takes a long time to become too thin). So when you can actually fit the blue clip around the filter is a indicator when you need to replace it. For cleaning up your filter now, scrub the filter with a green scoring pad. When you buy these new, they come with a cleaning pad but if yours doesn't have one you can just pick some up at walmart. After scrubbing it then you can boil it in some water for like 20 min. After that you should be good to go.

Thanks for the help! I copied the info. I am now on the right tack again
Now you guys make me want to get one!
If your globe is very cloudy you may have to scrub that filter a couple times in the filtering process.
I need to get one, too. I have a very cloudy 60s lamp coming...
the filter works wonders but if your wax is completely shot, the globe may cloud again after filtering it.
That's the experience I had with my Squiggle. It clouded again after one run. :(

Thanks for all the feedback. I looked for a replacement filter for mine and found out that I have an old style msr filter system it is the solid black with a blue top has a different shape filter in it that the new ones that have see through case with red top on them. don't get the old one I may not be able to find the old style ceramic filter replacement.

This could be a mistake on my part. The new ones have a triangle shaped plastic bottom on the ceramic element where as the old ones are round. I do not know if they interchange.

All my lamps are cloudy. I need one now!
Ok a slight exaggeration perhaps, but i've at least 20 which are pretty cloudy/misty or downright unusable.
