I got a 17 inch/32 oz "Designer" lamp, the blue base with blue wax variety.  When I picked it up(used) it was totally clear but had obvious very fine white powder collected at the bottom...the usual…Continue

My new acquisitions

I picked up some new lamps recently.  The 17 inch peach looking on has no cap code at all(doesn't appear there was one that got rubbed off, I took a picture in infra-red and saw nothing as that usually will show even rubbed off markings.) Got it for $3.  The 17 inch blue "Designer" was cloudy but I re-did the fluid, now it flows great. The 16.3 blue liquid with red wax is brand new from Spencer's, its clear and flows nicely. The also 16.3 purple liquid / pink wax I got used for $8. The 16.3…See More

Something Interesting About Me:
Software Developer / Unix-Linux System Administrator by occupation. For a hobby I enjoy using many of the skills developed for my career along with self taught electrical engineering, amateur chemistry, wannabe metalworking, stopgap woodwork, and components acquired from trashed consumer electronics or flea markets to design and build useful devices/machines/"things"/etc. The goal of the projects being that the end results appear too high a quality to be composed of electronic junk(usually rescued from the trash) and at a total cost next to nil. For example my own hardware password manager, milliamp/volt accurate and stable bench power supply(0-45V range, pmbus, + misc), bluetooth or USB mechanical keyboard, and a Raman spectrometer(in progress). And lastly of course attempting to make my own(stable/correct behaving) lava lamp from scratch without dangerous, too hard to find, or handle chemicals.

Or put much more succinctly I enjoy learning all I can about something and then trying to put that knowledge to use to produce something of a level of quality I can be happy with.
