14.5 Inch lamp base mod

I'm not sure if this has been done by anyone on here before, but this afternoon I decided to take a Dremel to the base of my purple and blue lava lamp and cut off about an inch of aluminum. Not only does it look really cool but it also let's you see more action that is usually hidden. The lamp now resembles the larger lamps, and apart from the slightly longer warm up time I'm really happy with how it turned out.See More

"The highlighter ink that I have used has not reacted with the wax in any noticeable way.  I really like the effect that highlighter ink gives.  It's much more saturated than food dye."

Dying Lava lamp with original wax

Hey all, I finally finished my liquid transfusion project on my old blue/ yellow lamp and had a question about highlighter ink. Does anyone here know if it will react with the wax at all? Specific food dyes make the lamp cloudy and I'm wondering if thats the same for highlighter ink? Thanks!See More
