Hi folks,I have managed to get my new 52oz. LW red/clear to run without over-heating by using a dimmer.  I have left it on for 8 hours in the easy, slow flow that I like.  What I'd like to do now is…Continue

Thanks for the warm welcome. My interest in lava lamps stems from a childhood memory of my grandfather's office. He had a gold-base lamp with a red/yellow globe. I think it was either an Aristocrat or a Century. I can't remember if it had the starlight holes in the base. In any case, that, to me, is the ideal of a lava lamp, and recently I decided it would be nice to have one. Much to my dismay, this model hasn't been made in years, and surviving examples are costly collectibles. But I found a neat lamp on Craigslist (the Enchantress planter) and decided to buy a brand new 52oz lamp too, so I'm enjoying the ooze.

I'm a tinkerer by nature, so I'm afraid I'll wind up duplicating my grandfather's lamp. The current model still has an aluminum base which is easily anodized or painted, and thanks to this site I can choose my globe colors with a Gookit. We'll see!

Hi Sean and a warm welcome to Oozing Goo the lava lamp syndicate. Why not tell us more about yourself and your interest in the lava lamp scene. It would be nice to know. With nearly 1900 worldwide members here, you're bound to get any assistance you may need on various lava lamp issues/queries and of course, do check out some of the great lava lamp collections on display here and some great pictures/videos too. There's always plenty of other cool stuff on other funky lighting like glitter lamps and fiber optic lamps as well. Why not start or contribute towards one of the (usually lava lamp related) discussions here too.

Oh yes, and don't forget the chat function to interact with your fellow lava lamp fans here as well!

Kind regards
