Anybody know what Lifespan Brand's trademark is? I only ask because Paul, the CEO of the company that bought Lifespan Brands, claims I am using their trademarks. Here is the answer from their own…Continue

k-nano replied to BaBa-Gooey's discussion Why are my bulbs blowing out like this?
"Unfortunately, this is a case of planned obsolescence. The bulbs are intentionally made very poorly so that there is a high likelihood that they will fail within some optimum time frame that results in you buying more bulbs as replacements. It works…"

k-nano replied to BaBa-Gooey's discussion Two New Lamps - Goo made from scratch
"Some glitter lamps use a resistor as the heat source and LED's for the light source, which are inherently brighter. This set up allows for more lighting options too, (think change colors on command) but most lava lamps require more heat than…"

k-nano replied to BaBa-Gooey's discussion Two New Lamps - Goo made from scratch
"Remember, incandescent bulbs mostly produce heat and a little bit of light. It's the heat your after. If you want light, then LED is the way to go. Increased lumens in an incanscent bulb means less heat unless it's a higher wattage bulb in…"

k-nano replied to BaBa-Gooey's discussion Two New Lamps - Goo made from scratch
"The flow of the lamp is entirely dictated by heat. Incandescent bulbs are the choice type of bulbs because they are the most inefficient bulbs in terms of converting electricity to light. Most of the energy is lost to heat dissipation. In the case…"

k-nano replied to Erin's discussion Schylling Acquires Lava Brand - Lava Lite Company Sold
"I know this discussion is old, but I want to resurrect it. What this brand does is of high interest to me because I am the inventor of the ferrofluid lava lamp (patent and everything) and it does appear that Schylling may have bought Lifespan Brands…"

k-nano replied to BaBa-Gooey's discussion Does Anyone Own A Magnetic Lava Lamp?
"Yup. That would be me. It's actually odd timing considering I haven't been on this site in quite a while. I randomly thought to myself to jump back on and see what's new with the community. There seems to be some interesting stuff…"

k-nano replied to k-nano's discussion What is the trademark?
"Wow. So Lifespan is amazingly cheap and Mathmos is so pricey that my ferrofluid lava lamp is actually less expensive! That's interesting. "
Feb 11, 2018
Johnny replied to k-nano's discussion What is the trademark?
"mathmos range from £60 - £95 lifespan / lava world lamps start from £9.99 to about £49.99 thats for the grande size"

k-nano replied to k-nano's discussion What is the trademark?
"I'm not sure if UK laws allow for the same type of thing. I know you do have crazy high VAT, but apparently that's not enough to stop it. What are average prices for lava lamps over there? Lifespan vs Mathmos"

Johnny replied to k-nano's discussion What is the trademark?
"reckon we should do the same and stop the shipment of crappy lifespan/lava world pile of poop entering the u.k and filling are land fill sites up :-)"
Feb 11, 2018
k-nano replied to k-nano's discussion What is the trademark?
"Mathmos is made in UK. I imagine it's as simple as Lifespan Brands made it pretty clear to Mathmos that if they shipped to US they would burden them in legal fees. (It's frivolous but lawsuits in the US are games of who has more money and…"

Johnny replied to k-nano's discussion What is the trademark?

Feb 10, 2018
k-nano replied to k-nano's discussion What is the trademark?
"I think they've been using that term for awhile now. It's possible they agreed to not ship to the US so that they could keep using the term without constant threat of lawsuit. I think that's more of a back door type deal not made…"

k-nano replied to k-nano's discussion What is the trademark?
