I agree that some models appear nicer than others however there are some things to consider......
- A fiber optic lamp will only appear as nice as the spray it is using. As you know trying to find a vintage glass spray that is in perfect - near perfect condition can be quite a challenge!Unfortunately I would say that only 25% of my sprays are in that condition. The rest are just as good as I could find :(I have a few sprays that I really do not like however I use them anyways as thats all I have.I put them on the models that do not get as bright or the models I do not like as much and therefore it makes them look considerably worse than others. For example the Cuda Harmony lamps look MUCH nicer with their original larger/fuller sprays however when I obtained a nice pair of rare Italian dish lamps that had bad sprays I swapped their sprays as I like using my best sprays on the lamps I like better. Now my Italian dish lamps look much nicer but my Cuda Harmony's look bad :(In a perfect world I would have a mint to near mint spray on all my lamps making them all appear their best!Unfortunately I have a lot more hunting/collecting to do to get to that point. ( maybe someday )
- Some models are brighter than others as they use slightly larger wattage bulbs.Spray/color wheel condition/cleanliness also has a major effect on how bright a lamp appears. The brightest smaller Fantasia models are the Galaxy and Saturn, all the others are not as bright and some of the older models use lower wattage bulbs making them appear even less bright. When you display a lamp that is not as bright next to a lamp that is brighter, the less bright lamp is going to get overpowered and not appear as good. You place those lower wattage/less bright lamps in a darker area and they will appear much nicer.Unfortunately there is no dark area in a room of 50+ fiber optic lamps so many of my smaller lamps are getting overwhelmed by the brightness which effects their appearance..
- Finally, I created this video using my phone with very little preparation. The quality of the video is far from perfect! While the video does provide a good idea of what things look like it is not an exact representation. If you saw some of the models you do not like in person, and they were using better sprays, you might like them better ;)I wanted all the different models I could find but you can tell which ones I like the best as they are using better sprays and I have more than one of them.
If you have any specific questions about any of the models please let me know as I am happy to answer them.Next years Collection video should be nicer :)
Thank you for posting this video. It allowed me to see some of the fantasia lamps I don't already own and no longer want to buy on Ebay . I was expecting more from some of the lamps but it appears their pretty much all the same except some have fuller sprays than others and I prefer fuller when it comes to collecting. My favorite Fantasia lamp in my collection is my mint condition Fantasia 4000. I rarely display it for fear of losing or breaking fibers. You have an impressive collection and it's always good to see a fellow Fantasia lamp collector. I remember the first time I saw a Fantasia Fiber Optic Lamp on my older sisters coffee table running in the middle of the day. I was not only mesmerized I was hooked for life. I've been wanting to send her the same lamp I saw on her coffee table as a thank you for getting me hooked on Fantasia lamps. I prefer to collect two of the same lamp whenever I buy so I want to give her one now that I feel like I can actually part with it. I'm sure she would be totally freaked out to see it in such clean condition for it's age and worth a lot more than what she originally paid for hers. I hope we'll get to see more of your videos. Again - thank you for posting as it not only saves me time hunting for lamps you also saved me money buying a lamp that I don't really think is that groovy. As a lamp collector I think you know what I mean. There are many times you see a lamp you want to add to your collection and then it arrives and your giving it away because it was not all that and a bag of Doritos. It happens.
very nice collection
