I see, thanks, Sam.   I didn't think the stores would let someone open all the boxes.  Unless someone does it when no store clerk is looking and risks getting caught.

When I go to my Spencer's i use my car keys to cut the tape and open every single one until I find a clear one no wax stuck etc. I've never had problems with this and I've done it on front of the workers several times, if they come to say something I'll just say I'm saving then the return process and myself the trip back by making sure they're good when I pick it up lol still waiting o my Spencer's to get pink white

I'm proud to say that I've never had an issue of getting a bad lamp from our Spencers. I try to stay away from ordering lamps online. Allthough........I do try to bag my own. The elployees usually plop the lamps on their side and hand them to me. So now I just pick the lamps up before they can touch them. The funny part is that when I ask for the bag.....they think I'm trying to help them.

The cashier at my spencer's actually volunteered to open them for me before I paid so we could inspect them.  She also plugged them in for me so I could check the globe for white spots.  She went above and beyond my expectations.  Unfortunately didn't notice these foggy streaks though until I set the lamp up when I got home.  It doesn't make sense though...it looks perfectly clear when off, and if there's another lamp next to it...but when its lit by its own bulb in a dim environment these smears appear, like hazy spots on the inside of the globe.  They also seem to come and go when its flowing...aka they don't seem to always show up in the same spots.

Would you say it could be wax smears? Because one of my grande has some marks on the inside that I'm pretty sure it's some wax that must've gotten splashed when the globe was filled

Jeff it sounds to me like cold air could be hitting the glass creating fog spots and the glass quality on mine are as Good as Chinese glass can be the only thing noticeable on mine are the suture lines where it was seemed together

Jeff I have that problem with all my new lamps. Streaks on the inside, I don't know if its because the globes are not getting completely cleaned. Or they are not using enough surfactant. I get them in different spots all the time as well.

MG My spencers lets me open all the tubes as well, back when I was trying the new lamps. Most of the workers know why lol. More so the ones that have been there for awhile

Thanks, Rodrigo, Jeff, Trev and everyone.   I haven't been in a Spencer's for "many" years, and didn't know their policy on that.  I guess they'd rather open them than exchange several in the same day.
