Yes, please show us a photo. Chances are Bohdan, Bryin and/or I can ID it and suggest the right bulb.
Ok here's a pic I hope ,were having a hard time loading a picture.

Thanks for the photos, that IDed it instantly. That is a "Capri" Lava Lite by Lava-Simplex, circa late 70s. Not produced for more than a few years, I don't think. Liquid looks slightly hazy, but if the lava flows it's best to keep the original contents. Take off the cap (cover the bottle to prevent dust getting in or evaporation, both of which can be issues) and rough it up with sandpaper a bit, then give the outside (and ONLY the outside, the sides and top) a good coat of nice metallic silver paint. Capris came in either brass or silver finish, and silver ones also as GemLites (glitter lamps). It should take, I believe, a 25-watt intermediate-base (also called a C-9 base) bulb. The 40-watt "hi-intensity" intermediate-base bulbs are way too hot. Enjoy your uncommon Lava Lite!
How do I get the Capri apart to put in a bulb its stuck together , it was in a box for years .And is it worth much ? We dont Know if it even flows because it stuck and we dont want to break the strange thing.
Stuck? Hmm, I'm honestly not sure. I'd put a few drops of a very light oil on the globe and let it trickle down between globe and top of base - make sure you spread it around with a toothpick. Give it a while to work its way down in (make sure none gets up higher on the glass, or runs down the outside of the base - you'll want friction contact there). After a few hours, grab globe and base firmly and try to gently wiggle the globe, trying to work it upward bit by bit.

Once it's out, give it and the inside edge of the base a good wipe-down with a damp cloth with a tiny bit of soap to get 'em clean - don't want water trickling into the base.

Do you have the box it came in, with art and text on it? That's worth holding onto if you have it. And yes, it's got a bit of collectible value - if you want to offer it for sale, try the buy/sell/trade board, I'd start at $60 and see what's offered. It's uncommon, though not rare, and is a simpler, smaller model, good for small spaces. Aside from the so-called "Apollo" (Expo '67 lamp, very very rare) the Capri may be Lava's smallest, most compact Lava Lite.
Yes I have the box ,but dont really know if it flows .because we are working on getting it apart,The box is in good condition numbers on it are 9506 XA89 10
